Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has always backed India’s armed forces. He has been regularly voicing his opinion on national issues through his Twitter account for quite a while now. Gambhir tweeted on September 5 that he would fund martyred Kashmiri assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Abdul Rasheed’s daughter Zohra’s education for the lifetime. Rasheed was martyred in an attack by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag. Gambhir did not just promise to take care of her education but also tweeted emotional messages, requesting her not to cry.
Gambhir tweeted, “”Zohra,I can’t put u 2 sleep wid a lullaby but I’ll help u 2 wake up 2 live ur dreams. Will support ur education 4 lifetime. Zohra, plz don’t let those tears fall as i doubt even Mother Earth can take d weight of ur pain. Salutes to ur [sic] martyred dad ASI,Abdul Rashid,”
The Kolkata Knight Riders captain had earlier taken the responsibility of providing education expenses of families of 25 CRPF personnel who were martyred in Chattisgarh’s South Sukma attack earlier this year. The education of this children will be funded by Gautam Gambhir’s foundation.

The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper has never shied away from raising his voice on a national issue. He commented on a video that went viral where CRPF men were stone-pelted by people in the Kashmir Valley.
During Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 Gambhir’s KKR side wore black bands while playing against Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) to pay tribute towards martyred CRPF men in Sukhma. The veteran cricketer also revealed that he was unable to concentrate on the game because of the attacks.
