Gautam Gambhir’s another emotional message to Zohra, says you are like my daughters

Gautam Gambhir asked 5-year-old Zoya to chase her dreams and assured that he will always be with her. She is just his own daughters

After announcing to fund the education of 5-year-old Zohra (daughter of the Jammu and Kashmir policeman gunned down by militants), Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has publically stated that Zohra was like his own daughters Aazeen & Anaiza. Zohra thanked Gambhir for his invaluable gesture and in return, the Indian cricketer assured her that he would always be there for her.

Zohra’s father Abdul Rasheed was martyred in an attack by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag. A photo of the crying Zohra at her father’s funeral was shared on social media. Later, on September 5, Gautam Gambhir tweeted that he would fund martyred Kashmiri assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Abdul Rasheed’s daughter Zohra’s education for her lifetime. Gambhir did not just promise to take care of her education but also tweeted emotional messages requesting her not to cry.

Gambhir’s tweet garnered a huge support and appreciation on social media. As per the media reports, the martyred’s daughter, while speaking to the reporters, thanked Gambhir for her gesture and said, “Thank you Gautam Sir. Me and my family are very happy with your gesture. I want to study and become a doctor.”

In reply, Gautam Gambhir said that she wasn’t required to thank him and should just follow her dreams. Gautam took to his Twitter handle and wrote,”Zohra beta, don’t thank me, u r lik my daughters Aazeen & Anaiza. Heard u wana b a doctor.Just spread ur wings n chase ur dreams.WE R THERE.”

Gautam’s manager, Dinesh Chopra, has confirmed that the Gautam Gambhir Foundation (GGF) will support Zohra’s entire education and help her to fulfil her dreams.

The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police S P Vaid has applauded Gautam’s decision and said the tragedy had moved people who have come out to help the affected.
