The latest Test cricket rankings have been released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today, on August 1. Looking at the bowler’s list, India’s star spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin shine at the top two spots with scores of 897 and 849 respectively. The latest rankings are based on their performance in the first India vs Sri Lanka Test at Galle where the Virat Kohli’s team won by 304 runs and took a lead of 1-0 with two Test matches still remained to be played.
In the batting department, two Indian batsmen – Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat kohli – remain stagnant at 4th and 5th places respectively. On the other hand, man of the match awardee of the first Test, Shikhar Dhawan has moved moved 21 places up to 39th in the rankings. Dhawan knocked a blistering 190 run off 168 balls in the first innings against Sri Lanka at Galle on day 1.
Aussie captain Steven Smith remains at the top of the batsmen list with 941 points followed by English skipper Joe Root and Kiwi batter Kane Williamson at 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
The news is stellar for English all-rounder Ben Stokes who managed to gain the fifth spot in the all-rounder’s ranking list with 362 points to his galore. His outstanding performance in the third Test against South Africa at The Oval helped him jump 12 places to joint-25th position with Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal in the ICC Test batsmen rankings as well. Also, Jadeja and Ashwin also retained their second and third position respectively in the all-rounders’ list which is currently topped by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan.
