Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has become a Twitter sensation post his retirement. The Nawab of Najafgarh is known for his witty tweets and one-liners that leave fans in splits. While Sehwag has been bringing smiles with his tweets, his recent video post conveys a serious message. The 38-year-old took to Twitter to share that he would be dedicating this Diwali to Indian soldiers.
Sehwag made a request to other Indians that whenever, wherever they see an Indian soldier, they should salute him or her. By doing so, it would definitely bring a smile to their faces. The 38-year-old began his message by saying, “The reason why our nation is happy and celebrating freely today is because of our armed forces. The unconditional love and support they have shown are exemplary and one should learn from them on how to be selfless. I wish our brothers who are protecting us at the borders, a very happy Diwali on behalf of 125 crore Indians.”
It was indeed a rare moment when Sehwag got emotional. The Nawab of Najafgarh went on to add that some people will understand his message while others won’t. But for him, the soldiers are and will remain the true heroes. “If we are celebrating Diwali today, it is because of you guys (Indian forces who have been protecting us at the borders). If you guys are there, we exist. Jai Hind,” he added.
The former batsman who is known for his aggressive style of play has been upfront with his words as well. Sehwag has been an ardent supporter of the Indian armed forces. He was one of the first on social media to congratulate them for their successful surgical strikes in Pakistan. Sehwag, in his very own desi-style, tweeted, “Salute to Indian Army. The boys have played really well. Jai Hind #surgicalstrikes.”
“Kisi Bhi Fauji Ko Dekho,Toh Ek Salute Thoko”.Your wishes can bring a smile to a Soldier this Diwali.
