IPL 2017: Tom Moody on Gautam Gambhir: I respect him as captain and player

Indian Premier League, KKR v SRH: Moody said he has very fond memories of last year's eliminator, in which they had defeated KKR

Tom Moody, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach is the latest to be in Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir’s fan. Tomorrow KKR take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first eliminator, which promises to be a mouthwatering clash. With news pouring in, we learn that Ashish Nehra will not be available for the match due to a hamstring injury, also the grapevine has it that it is a 50-50 chance of Yuvraj Singh taking part in the tournament. He will undergo a medical test just ahead of the game tomorrow. In fact, last year SRH was the team that knocked KKR out of the tournament, so it could be KKR’s chance of taking revenge.

Moody spoke to reporters and said that KKR may have lost 4 of their last 5 matches but that will hardly matter. He said, “KKR’s form over the past two weeks is not going to be relevant tomorrow. They have got a lot of experience in that team. There are lot of players who know how to win play-offs. So, we make sure that we focus on us and play with the same mindset we have been playing so far.”

He also spoke of KKR as a team and said, “There are enough good players in their side. KKR have been champions twice. They have got some high class players, so there is no individual that I would like to pick. They are good and that is why they are playing the eliminator.”

“Tactically too Warner is thorough in pre-match preparations and in strategising, besides allowing his players to express themselves in the field,” Moody said.
