Franchises can retain their star players for IPL 2018. Here’s how!

As claimed earlier, according to several media reports, all the players will be available for the auctions next year and nobody will be retained in IPL 2018 auctions

Amid several speculations doing round about the open auctions of the players in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, several franchises like the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Daredevils (DD), and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have favoured the option of ‘Right to Match’. As claimed earlier, according to several media reports, all the players will be available for the auctions next year and nobody will be retained.

But, what is Right to Match?

It is an option which allows a franchise to retain its player by matching their listed auction price. Also, it has been announced that the now-banned teams, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, will be back and they are pretty eager to retain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. However, the speculations are also there they have to build the team the again from the scratch.

Meanwhile, several media reports also stated that apart from the above-mentioned teams, rest of the franchises are on the same page with the option of an open auction. Co-owner of Kings XI Punjab has recently asserted that she is totally cool with the open auctions.

She said,”It is going to be an open auction without any retention. We all gave been informed about the fact. We welcome this decision of BCCI. It doesn’t mean that I’m not happy with the present team. It’s a great team we have. Also, the teams which are doing well are those which has young Indian players playing well.”

Well, we have to wait as of now to get a clear picture on the implementation of ‘Right to Match’.
