India was the number 1 Test team after they won the Border-Gavaskar trophy defeating Australia. Even after a month of Indian Premier League, India seems to have retained the numero uno, No. 1 spot in the latest released ratings. This means India will start the ICC Champions Trophy as the number one team and with 123 points, they are closely followed by South Africa, who are placed second with 117 points.
The 9th ranked Bangladesh trailing eighth-ranked West Indies by six points.
India has gained one ranking point while South Africa has leaped from 109 to 117 points. This jump means the pre-update gap of 13 points has now been trimmed to just six points.

While the big gainers are India and South Africa have made upward movements, Australia, England and Pakistan have slipped according to the latest rankings. Australia finish third on this list, followed by their traditional rivals England who grab the fourth spot.
The most-awaited ICC event starts next week the ICC Champions Trophy but that is limited overs cricket and will not be having a bearing on these rankings. But India play their next Test in West Indies against the Caribbean nation that is where they will have to perform well to maintain the numero uno spot.
