Delhi Daredevils won the toss and looking at the good batting strip opted to bat first. It was a bold move by Zaheer Khan considering KKR are more at home when they are chasing. Delhi Daredevils got off to a flyer, thanks to Sanju Samson and Sam Billings. Billings was the first to depart after scoring 21 off 17 balls. Getting to play his first game, Nathan Courter-Nile was among the wickets straightaway, dismissing Billings, Uthappa took the catch. Sanju Samson, the in-form batsman who already registered a century in the league was promising to do something similar failed. In the very next over Gautam Gambhir introduced Narine and got rid of Angelo Matthews for 1. Finally, Nathan Courter Nile got the better of dangerous Pant for 38 off 16. He was looking ominous.
