Delhi Daredevils won the toss and shocked everyone by opting to bat first. They started off cautiously and then when they tried to up the ante they lost wickets but then Sam Billings stood up to the plate and scored 55 off 40 balls. Varun Aaron picked up 2 wickets but leaked runs, he gave away 41 in 4 overs. Delhi Daredevils managed to cobble together a more than par score of 189. 189 looked to be a very challenging score. There were hopes pinned on Shreyas Iyer who was making a comeback to the team, got a start but could not carry on, he fell for 22 off 17. It was late order blitz from Chris Morris and Corey Anderson powered them to 188.
When Kings XI Punjab started to chase the score, they lost Manan Vohra early for 3 and that sent jitters in the dressing room. Hashim Amla was looking lethal and dangerous but that is just when Amla lost his wicket to a freak shot of a full toss. There were a lot of hopes pinned on Saha but he too lost his wicket early putting the entire team in trouble. The Big show was a no-show, Glenn Maxwell was out for a duck and that really hurt them.
David Miller got started but never really took off, he scored 24 off 28 balls. Morgan too could not really kick on, on his start. Axar Patel was playing for a lost cause, but he got a few runs that will help his confidence going deep into the tournament. DD won the match by 51 runs.
