IPL 10 KXIP v SRH: Manan Vohra’s 95 goes in vain, Bhuvi-magic seals the deal for SRH!

SRH was lucky enough to win the game by an edge and finally, defeated Punjab by 5 runs at the end.

The clash between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) turned into another thriller dosage after the the game got stretched till the last over where Punjab needed 11 runs to win in the final over. But Hyderabad was lucky enough to win the game by an edge and finally, defeated Punjab by 5 runs at the end.

After batting first, SRH came into bat first and struggled throughout the inning. However, with the help of skipper David Warner’s 70 runs innings, Hyderabad managed to put 159 runs on the board after losing 6 wickets. A target of 160 runs were set for KXIP to chase and to do so, Hashim Amla and Manan Vohra came into the field. But in the very first ball of the second innings, Punjab suffered a huge blow as Hashim Amla was dismissed for a golden duck by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Right from the first ball, Hyderabad has put a lot of pressure on the Punjab batting line-up and as a result no other batsman except Manan Vohra could withstand that.

Skipper Glenn Maxwell was the next man who came in at number 3 and after Amla’s early dismissal, a captain’s knock was expected from him. Though Maxwell went for few big shots and grabbed 2 boundaries but he was not so fortunate to play an inning long enough. After scoring 12 runs, Maxwell was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar where more trouble surmounted the Kings XI Punjab.

Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, who made his IPL debut with this game, got his first wicket after dismissing Eoin Morgan for 13 off 17 balls while another Afghan lad, Rashid Khan, hit the Punjab batting line twice with dismissing Wriddhiman Saha for a duck and David Miller after he could score just one run.

The Punjab men kept coming and going but Manan Vohra didn’t shift his focus from the game. The moment he crossed the 90 runs benchmark, the Punjab dugout hoped of somehow winning the game but Bhuvneshwar Kumar destroyed it too. In the 19th over, Bhuvi threw a lower full toss which hit Vohra’s pad and he was given LBW out. The disappointment was clearly visible on the face of KXIP squad while Hyderabad had almost got the grip by then.

Despite Manan Vohra’s brave inning of 95 runs, KXIP couldn’t manage to win the game and lost the gam e by 5 runs. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 5 wickets from 4 overs and conceded just 19 runs.

With this victory, Hyderabad now stands at the third position of the points tally 3 wins and 6 points in their account whereas the KXIP are at 5th position with 2 wins and four points.
