In what could have been a grave injury, Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Hardik Pandya took a nasty tumble while delivering the very first ball of his over against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 10 encounter today. However, the tragedy was saved after the brave brisk seam bowler got up all okay, smiling to himself limping a bit.
After the end of the seventh over, MI captain Rohit Sharma replaced Jasprit Bumrah with Pandya to provide a breakthrough to a now threatening partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Warner was on strike, ready to face his first ball.
Pandya ran. But as soon as he was about to land on his front foot, his right leg, which was behind the wicket, slipped awkwardly. It twisted to the left and he fell heavily on his knee. Dhawan, who was at the non-striker’s end, immediately went to him to check if he was fine. Captain Sharma and wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel, too rushed to enquire about him.

The suffering sportsman held his knee for a moment but grinned in the next. He was back on his feet quickly, limping for a couple of metres but steady and ready to deliver the next ball. Quite extraordinary. Quite magical!
The Blues’ were poised to win this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad with 48 runs required off 39 balls, but the next ball saw Kieron Pollard pull the ball straight to Dhawan at square leg making the competition even at the time of filing this story.
