Irrespective of the captaincy, it will be a battle between the former captain of India, MS Dhoni and the current captain Virat Kohli. Both the teams are looking for that comeback match to get things in order and move up the ladder in IPL 2017 standings.
Kohli made a comeback in the previous game but could not convert into a win despite Samuel Badree’s hat-trick. He will be looking to continue his good form. RCB still suffer due to injured players KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and Sarfaraz Khan. Kohli needs to get the combination in order before RCB lose any more matches.
Same rule applies for RPS as well who have lost 3 out of 4 games. Skipper Steven Smith has too much responsibility on his shoulder to lead the RPS batting lineup. MS Dhoni;s form has been a matter of concern as the ‘finisher’ has not been playing to his true nature.
Ben Stokes has been lethal with the bat but lacked sheen with the ball, he needs to justify his price tag as well. It will be interesting to watch whether Kohli backs Gayle against RPS after flop show or not.
