The entire cricket fraternity is very well aware of the on-field heroics of the former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. Despite the fact that he had bidden adieu to the international cricket but still his marvel could be seen in the commercial cricket. Whether be it the ongoing season of the Indian premier League, the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) or the Australian Big Bash T20 league, Bazz has been one of the most favourite picks of the franchise. But apart from his cricketing brilliance, he is also a man with a golden heart which he proved after helping the family of jockey Rebecca Black.
But apart from his cricketing brilliance, he is also a man with a golden heart which he proved after helping the family of jockey Rebecca Black who passed away after falling in a race at gore in December 2016.
The former Kiwi skipper hs raised $12,000 for Rebecca’s family by auctioning off the naming rights for his bat during the IPL tournament. A businessman from Christchurch, New Zealand, Ray Coupland, willingly paid $12,000 after naming McCullum’s bat as Coup Ray. The businessman named the bat after one of his star horses.
Brendon McCullum took to his twitter handle and sharing this information with his fans, wrote,”The bat i put up for auction to raise money for fallen jockey Rebecca Black’s family. It sold for 12k. Ill use it 2day v @KKRiders.”

On April 21, McCullum scored a fiery 33 with the ‘Coup Ray’ bat for the Gujarat Lions against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens resulting in a 4-wicket victory over the hosts. The auction was organised at a dinner held to remember Riverton jockey Rebecca Black, where $40,000 were raised for the trust.
Here is what he spoke in the after match chit-chat session with former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke about his bat ‘Coup Ray’.
