IPL 2017: Daniel Christian walks out to bat wearing Ben Stokes' jersey, are RPS running short of jerseys?

Daniel Christian might face a penalty has he wore Ben Stokes' jersey as he came into bat for Rising Pune Supergiant against Kolkata Knight Riders

Daniel Christian committed a bizarre mistake as he came into bat for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in Match 41 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 against Kolkata Knight Riders. In a hurry to go out and bat in a situation where RPS needed him to finish off the game, Christian wore Stokes’ jersey into the ground. It was not like he could not find his own jersey but he picked the wrong jersey in a hurry to go out and bat.

IPL is a league where bizarre things happen with players getting out in funny fashion to amazing catches and funny drops but this is certainly a first in the history. But, Christian did the job for RPS as he finished the match with a gigantic six as it got tense after Rahul Tripathi got out for 93.

Later, that night Christian took to Twitter to clarify, at first, he lauded Tripathi for a match-winning inning and then he gave the reason why he wore Stokes’ jersey to the field. Stokes and Christian’s jersey were hanging out to dry next to each other. As MS Dhoni got out, Christian picked his teammate’s jersey and walked out to bat.

Christian has become an indispensable part of RPS side in the previous few matches as he replaced unfit Lockie Ferguson in the team. Christian might face a match-fee penalty or anything else as he violated IPL rules by wearing someone else’s jersey to the ground. However, RPS fans will hope that he does not get a match ban as he has been in good form of late.
