Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to field, what was surprising was that for Delhi Daredevils Karun Nair was captaining the side. DD started woefully losing Sam Billings early in the piece of the bowling of Sandeep Sharma. Sanju Samson followed the suite in the next over to Sharma again, he played a shot too early getting a top edge for 5. That brought Shreyas Iyer and Karun Nair together. Sharma did not stop there, he picked another in his third over, he dismissed Iyer to a one-handed sizzler of his own bowling.
That meant DD were 22/3 and looking down the barrel. Sharma picked all 3. Nair just when he was looking set, he got dismissed for 11, it did not stop there, they lost Pant in quick succession for 3 runs. Morris too bit the dust to the bowling of Axar, who picked 2 wickets.
The going became slow as expected, Rabada and Anderson were crawling. The innings was going nowhere. Maxwell bowling his full quota in the middle overs and was economical, he gave away 12 runs in 4 overs with one wicket in his kitty. Aaron struck with his very first ball in the 15th over, Anderson played it on to his stumps for 18. Rabada showed some resistance but he too departed looking to up the scoring, he departed for 11. Sharma picked 4 wickets in his 4 overs giving away 24 runs. DD got all out for 67 runs.
