Delhi Daredevils won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Mumbai Indians who have done reasonably well in the tournament opened with Parthiv Patel and Jos Buttler. They lost Parthiv Patel in the fourth over and then they lost a string of wickets. Buttler, Rana and Rohit along with Pandya followed for 28, 8, 5 and 17 respectively.
This means early on in the piece they were looking down the barrel at 60 for 4, with the Pandyas to follow. Krunal Pandya would probably feel today was just not their day as they fell cheaply for 17. Amit Mishra was the pick of the DD bowlers who picked up 2 crucial wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. But it was Kagiso Rabada who got things started by scalping Parthiv Patel’s timber, that sent shivers down the MI spine for certain and it showed.
It was then left to Kieron Pollard and the younger Pandya, Hardik, who got the innings back on track by backing themselves and playing attacking brand of cricket. But just when Kieron Pollard was looking to switch gears he departed for an un-Pollard like 26 off 29 balls. But it was the Hardik Pandya who carried battling with Harbhajan Singh. Cummins too bowled outstandingly well, picking 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs.
That was a HARD-hit by Hardik! That was a good pick-up shot!#MIvDD #CricketMeriJaan #MI pic.twitter.com/SGzFADByRi
