The super over started with James Faulkner's birthday but by the time it was finished, Rohit Sharma's birthday has begun

April 29, 2017. The date will surely be remembered by the players Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions but above all, it’s going to be marked in the history books of Indian premier League for hosting the first ever ‘super over’ of season 10. The power packed game not only gave goosebumps to millions of cricket fans but also compelled the people of almost all age category to wake up till midnight and watch the entire game. Surprisingly, when the super over showdown started it was James Faulkner’s birthday but by the time it was finished, Rohit Sharma’s birthday has begun. Moreover, the game was an entertainment bonanza for the cricket lovers.

While chasing the target of 153 runs, Mumbai batsmen stretched the game till the last over and got all out for 153 and the game was tied. The result has to come through a super over then which was going to be the first tiebreaker of the tournament.

The final showdown started with Kieron Pollard and Jos Buttler coming in the field to play Gujarat bowlers. Pollard had the strike and hit a four in the first ball and a six in the second. He tried for another biggie but was caught by McCullum by Aaron Finch. Mumbai lost another wicket off the next ball as Jos Buttler was caught by Ishan Kishan.

Gujarat needed to chase 12 runs to win the game and the feat looked easy to achieve with batsmen like Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch. On the other side, Jasprit Bumrah had the bowl who started with a no-ball and then a wide and almost gave a hope to Gujarat. But in the next 6 balls, he miraculously turned the game and MI win by 5 runs in the super-over.

After this heart-throbbing face-off, the Twitterati erupted in joy and expressed themselves within 140 character limit.
