This was the battle of the bottom two teams in the league table, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions. Gujarat Lions Suresh Raina won the toss and without any hesitation opted to field first. As expected Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle opened the batting for RCB, they got off to a very cautious start. They were 33 of 4 overs, when Raina brought in Andrew Tye into the attack, the hat-trick taker. But then Gaylestorm happened and he powered the score to 75 in 8 overs for no loss. Gayle was dealing in sixes. It was a Gyale show as he stormed to his fifty, Virat Kohli was comfortable playing anchor and putting away the loose balls. Ravindra Jadeja was hit out of the attack as he gave away 30 runs in his first 2 overs.
Chris Gayle’s innings finally ended when he was plumb in front to Basil Thampi, he scored 77 off 38 balls. Soon Virat Kohli departed in trying to up the scoring rate. He scored 64 off 50 balls. Travis Head, who is replacing Shane Watson showed exactly why he is spoken of highly in Australia. He had Kedar Jadhav giving him company. Dhawal Kulkarni gave 37 runs in 4 overs and got the important wicket of Virat Kohli. Kedar Jadhav really started hitting the ball and he did it exquisitely. The pint-sized dynamo also showed his big hitting skills. RCB breached 200 in the last over, thanks to a six by Kedar Jadhav. Head got 30 off 16 and Jadhav got 38 off 16 balls. Gujarat Lions need 214 to win.
