Welcome to inUth’s ldigital coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017’s Match 26 between Gujarat Lions (GL) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. Suresh Raina’s side are currently placed at 8th spot with 2 wins in 6 games but they have a slightly poor net run rate. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell’s side too has won only 2 of their 6 games but they have a better net run rate as they are placed at No.6 in IPL Standings.
Both the teams have not yet able to figure out one winning combination as they have shuffled their overseas players several times. The good news for GL is that their skipper Raina is fine form as he scored 86 runs in the previous game that turned out to be a match-winning inning. Their overseas batsmen too have contributed with quickfire cameos.Although they might look to replace Dwayne Smith as soon as Dwayne Bravo gets back his fitness.
GL’s bowling has been a major concern for them as they have a lot of domestic talent which has not been that effective with an exception of Basil Thampi. On the batting front, Brendon McCullum’s form will play a crucial role in the game, same goes for Aaron Finch.
Maxwell’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways, similar to GL, their bowling lineup has looked scratchy as well, unable to stop the flow of runs in the death overs despite starting well. Ishant Sharma’s poor form has created more problems for KXIP, they might go for T Natarajan against GL.
KXIP’s batting looks strong enough with Hashim Amla scoring a century in the previous game. They have ample amount of firepower in skipper Maxwell, Manan Vohra, David Miller. Although Darren Sammy has been warming the benches all this time, there is a possibility that he might make it to Playing XI.
