A few days back Suresh Rains-led team Gujarat Lions went through a big blow after their star pacer Dwayne Bravo was ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 as he couldn’t recover his hamstring injury. However, on April 24, the GL team management have come up with Bravo’s replacement and he is none other than Indian pacer and Baroda Ranji captain Irfan Pathan.
Earlier, Irfan Pathan remained unsold in the IPL 10 players auctions which held on 20 February in Bangalore. In the IPL season 9, Pathan was bought by Rising Pune Supergiant but was later released from the team. And today, Pathan took to his official Twitter handle and confirmed this information with posting a picture.
He tweeted,”Looking forward to be a part of this wonderful unit @ImRaina @TheGujaratLions #GameMaariche.”
Surprisingly, a few minutes later, the tweet was no more available on Twitter. Well, the reason behind deleting this was still unknown but if Pathan is all set to join Gujarat Lions, then it will be a big relief for the Suresh Rain and Co. as they have been struggling in the ongoing IPL season.
A side which has big names in the list of players has managed to win only 2 games out of 7 and have only 4 points in their account. The present batting line-up of Gujarat looks amazing on paper which includes phenomenal players like Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch, Suresh Raina and Jason Roy but still, they are lagging far behind.
The bowling performance has been the main concern for the team management right from the beginning of the game as the bowlers have failed to perform. In the first two games, they hardly managed to get only one wicket and lost both of them. However, Andrew Tye took a superb hat-trick but yet the bowling performance has not been up to the mark.
