To mourn someone’s death, wearing black armbands have become a common but commendable practice in sports, including in cricket. On April 26, The Kolkata Knight Riders stepped into the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune wearing black armbands to mourn the death of 25 CRPF men who lost their lives on April 25 afternoon in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma area.
Termed as one of the deadliest attacks, about 300 heavily armed Maoists attacked a CRPF contingent in Sukma area in Chhattisgarh, killing 25 troopers and escaping with their AK-47 assault rifles.
Soon after the attack, people from all walks of life came together to condemned the killings. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he was “extremely pained” by the killings and offered tributes to the dead and condolences to their families.
“The sacrifice of brave men is a big loss to the nation. Such attacks will never deter our fight against extremism,” Sonia Gandhi tweeted.
Besides them, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir too took to his Twitter handle to express his grief at the tragic event. He tweeted: “25 CRPF men sacrificed lives for d country. Sometimes I wonder if we deserve their sacrifice!!!”

Meanwhile, superstar Shah Rukh Khan owned IPL franchise KKR thrashed Rising Pune Supergiant by 7 wickets. After this win, KKR reached at the top of points table.
Chasing 183 runs target set by RPS, KKR chased down the target with 11 balls to spare. For KKR, Robin Uthappa stole the show for his quickfire 87. During his stay at the crease he smashed 7 fours and 6 sixes. For his blistering knock, Uthapa was adjudged the man of the match.
