Royal Challenger Bangalore won the toss and opted to field first. They got off to a bad start losing their big player Ajinkya Rahane out to a loose ball from Badree for 6 runs. That brought Steven Smith to bat, who is in the form of his life. Tripathi was looking adventurous but it was paying off. At the end of 7 overs they were 53 for 1. Finally, when Rahul Trpathi tried to shift gears, he departed for 37 to Pawan Negi. Steven Smith kept ticking away runs along with Manoj Tiwary and then just when they were looking all-set, Smith departed for 45 runs to a ball from Binny.
Manoj Tiwary was then joined by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Tiwary was playing well scoring at a run-a-ball. Negi was economical, he gave away 18 runs in his quota of 4 overs. MSD was looking patient as he was just waiting to tee-off. Badree was also more or less economical considering the format, he gave away 31 runs in his 4 overs, picking up a solitary wicket. At the end of 16 overs they were 115 for 3, pushing for 170. Dhoni also hit Sreenath for a flat six straight down the ground, that also brought up the 400th six of IPL 10. After 18 overs they were 138 for 3, they were looking good to score anything in between 165-170. Chahal was disappointing he gave away 25 off 2 overs. Binny also bowled 2 overs and picked a wicket for 17 runs. Milne gave away 35 runs in his 4 overs. Tiwary ended unbeaten on 44 and MSD unbeaten on 21. They have set 158 for RCB to chase.
