Welcome to inUth’sl digital coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017’s Match No. 30 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. It will be a special one for Gautam Gambhir as it is his 100th game for KKR as a captain. He has won 2 titles with KKR in 2012 and 2014 after he was given the opportunity to lead the side in 2011’s edition.
KKR are currently in 2nd spot in IPL 2017 Standings with 5 wins from 7 games with an outstandings run rate of +1.177. Whereas, RPS are making their way up the ladder with 4 wins out of 7 games. Steven Smith’s side is currently placed at fourth spot with a net run rate of -0.627.
KKR are in high spirits after thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore in Eden Gardens, bundling them out for 49, record lowest score in IPL’s history. Their major concern will be batting if Gambhir’s gamble of opening with Sunil Narine does not pay off. We might see a few changes in the batting lineup. The bad news for KKR is that their star bowling all-rounder and ‘Man of the Match’ from the previous game will not be playing as he has been rested.
On the other hand, RPS are in high spirits with their star and expensive player, Ben Stokes who was bought in the auction for Rs.14.5 crore. His bowling performance and acrobat fielding in the death overs was the reason they were able to beat MI in the nail-biter. MS Dhoni too has signs of old days of ‘finisher’ glory. That will be a big boost for RPS.
