What David Warner did today with his bat was enough to break the hopes of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the game number 37 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 in Hyderabad. Not only his marvellous knock of 126 runs helped to set a humungous target for Kolkata but that was the key weapon for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win the game by 48 runs at their home ground.
It was a special day for Warner as not only he scored his first century in this season but along with grabbing the orange cap, he was nominated as the Man of the Match.
After winning the toss, KKR skipper once again chose to field first thinking that his bowlers will one again restrict Hyderabad within a minimum possible score. But SRH skipper thrashed all the strategies build by KKR team management. First, he scored a half-century in 20 balls and then converted it into a century. Later, by the end of 20 overs, SRH put a huge mountain of 209 runs on the scoreboard.
Kolkata was surely under pressure and they needed to hit hard right from the beginning. Once again, Gambhir and Narine kickstarted the second inning but they failed to create an impact in return. Narine was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for 1 off 4 balls in the second overs while skipper Gautam Gambhir departed by Siddharth Kaul after scoring 11 runs off 11 balls.
However, Robin Uthappa continued his good form as he scored another half-century despite the game getting hindered for almost half an hour due to rain. After hitting 4 sixes and 4 fours, he managed to score 53 runs off 28 balls before he was sent back to the pavilion by Mohammed Siraj in the 13th over. Uthappa remained the highest run scorer from KKR in this game.
Later, Yusuf Pathan (12), Sheldon Jackson (16), Colin de Grandhomme (18) and Chris Woakes (6) could not do anything special to save the game and lost the game by 48 runs.
