IPL 2017 SRH vs RCB: Yuvraj’s fastest 50 helps Hyderabad thrashing Bangalore by 35 runs

The stand out performer was Yuvraj Singh, he actually rolled back the years and gave us a glimpse of how threatening he still is

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) , the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has defeated last season’ runner-up Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) in the opening match of the tenth season by 35 runs. The opening game held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad was total power packed which left the cricket fans numerous fabulous and mind blowing performances. Yuvraj Singh, the man who rocked the opening day, was declared as the Man of the Match.

The hosts, RCB, won the toss and elected to field first. As Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were not there on the team, It was Shane Watson who took all the responsibilities to lead the team from the front. On the side, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan opened the Hyderabadi innings. Within no time, Dhawan started blazing his guns and scores a ravishing 40 before he got out while skipper David Warner could not do anything special in the opening game. Then came the man who just set the ground on fire along with Moises Henriques. Yuvraj Singh played a knock of 62 runs off 27 balls before he was dismissed by Tymal Mills. Also, it was the fastest fifty by Yuvraj in the IPLs. Not only Yuvraj’s skills helped him to reach the milestone but several missed catches made his way easier.

Secondly, Moises Henriques was the next man to score a half-century and helped the team to put a massive score of 207 runs on the scoreboard.

In the second innings, the man with big and strong arms, Chris Gayle came to open the Bangalore innings along with Mandeep Singh and since the big names were missing from the game, all eyes were stuck on gayle and a big inning was expected. The opening pair gave a perfect start to the team with a required run rate of 9.10 runs per over. But soon after the first strategic time out, the Bangalore batting line started collapsing gradually. After the dismissal of Chris Gayle, several players in the top order including Kedar Jadhav, Travis Head and the skipper Shane Watson tried their best to save the game but it was the Hyderabad fielders who didn’t let loose the grip throughout the game.

For SRH, their bowler pick in the form of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan proved to be a valuable one as he took 2 important wickets for his team dismissed Travis Head (30) and Mandeep Singh (24). While, veteran bowler of the team, Ashish Nehra, became the 8th bowler and the first left-armer to get 100 IPL wickets.
