Bollywood actress Preity Zinta owned Kings XI Punjab have suffered a major blow ahead of their match against Suresh Raina-led Gujarat Lions after team’s all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season 10. Stoinis suffered an injury on his shoulder while taking a diving catch in the practice session held before Punjab’s clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 5. The 27-year-old played five matches for Punjab this season.
Earlier on May 5, Kings XI Punjab produced an excellent bowling performance to defeat Virat Kohli-led RCB by 19 runs in an IPL match at M Chinnaswamy stadium on Friday. Defending a low total of 138 runs, Punjab dismissed the star-studded RCB batting line-up for 119 runs in 19 overs.
Punjab’s win over RCB keeps them in the running for a spot in the play-offs as they have 10 points from an equal number of matches. Kings XI Punjab are currently fifth in the points table and they with have to play four more matches.
Kings XI Punjab will be facing Gujarat Lions at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali later in the day.
They will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 9, Mumbai Indian on May 11 and Rising Pune Supergiant on May 14.
