After losing their last game in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Kings XI Punjab at IS Bindra Stadium Mohali on May 8, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have to pull up their socks ahead of their next game against Mumbai Indians in order to fix their berth for the playoffs. Right now, Kolkata are at the second position in the points table with 16 points in their account while they are left with only one game in the league phase. They have to win that only game so as to ensure their entry into the qualifiers which are going to start from May 16.
Meanwhile, KKR team owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has sent an emotional message for his team and its captain. He passed on his best wishes to the team and praised the magnificent knock of 84 runs played by Chris Lynn. King Khan took to his official twitter account and wrote,”Lost our way a bit tonight…does not mean we can’t reach the destination. Onward with more resolve…lov u boys. Lynny well played. Ami KKR”.

In the match number 49 of IPL, KXIP set a competitive target of 168 runs for KKR to chase. In return, Kolkata, despite a good start and Chris Lynn’s massive knock of 84 runs, failed to defend the target and lost the game by 14 runs. Later in the post-match presentation, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir opened up and stated that playing too much dot balls in the power-play let them loose the game.
However, KKR’s Net Run Rate (NRR) is much better than other teams which may help the side in the end for getting to the qualifier but it’s important to win their next game to make their points total equal to Mumbai’s.
