Steven Smith leaves Rising Pune Supergiant midway through IPL 2017?

Steven Smith does it again as he leaves the tournament midway to get family time, this time around he ditches Rising Pune Supergiant

Steven Smith has done it again, he has left the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) side hanging in between. Smith has decided to take a 6-day tour of Dubai with his wife and baby amidst Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. The Australian skipper took to Twitter as he tweeted his Instagram post which read, “Ducked off to Dubai for a couple of days in my 6 day break and discovered some magnificent Acai bowls.” along with a snap.

Smith leaving RPS midway means that there is a vacant spot for the captain. It seems like Ajinkya Rahane will be stand-in captain like he was in the game where Smith suffered from a bad stomach. Smith’s absence will pave the way for an overseas batsman in the side. Faf du Plessis is most likely to replace him in the Playing XI.

Smith’s absence will be a big blow for RPS as he is the leading run-scorer in the season for the side with 133 runs from 4 matches at an average of 60 and strike rate of 135.33. He scored an half-century in the first game against Mumbai Indians (MI) as RPS registered their first victory.

RPS after a rough patch made a comeback in this season as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) quite comprehensively despite posting a lowly score. RPS are supposed to play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the next game to be played at April 22 who have a formidable bowling side.

Smith’s absence will sure be a talking point before the game, he might face outrage of MS Dhoni fans as well whom he replaced as RPS captain before the tournament.
