Indian skipper Virat Kohli has not been in the best of form with the bat and to make matters worse he could very well be missing out the entire Indian Premier League season. If that is the case, it will be a massive blow for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. There are also a few reports making the rounds about his availability for the all-important Champions trophy, which is due in two months time. Earlier, during the Border-Gavaskar trophy which India won Virat had injured his shoulder, which also kept him at bay during the Dharamsala decider.
Some like Brad Hodge questioned his integrity towards his country, alleging him of not playing the decider because he wanted to get fit in time for the IPL, where the money is higher.
Updating his condition BCCI in their statement said, “The Indian captain will undergo rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to his right shoulder. His recovery will be assessed in the second week of April to determine an exact return to play date for IPL 2017.”
In the meanwhile, there are also reports that Umesh Yadav, Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja could also miss the first leg of the tournament.
Meanwhile yesterday, Virat Kohli’s there was a April Fools Day medical report doing the rounds which created a stir.
Regarding Rahul and Murali Vijay, the BCCI said, “Rahul is likely to undergo surgery of his left shoulder and Vijay will require surgery to his right wrist and also undergo rehabilitation for his left shoulder so they may not be available for the entire IPL 2017 season.”
Reports have also come in that Ravichandran Ashwin may not feature in the entire length of the tournament and Nathan Lyon could replace him in the Rising Pune Supergiant squad.
