The whole cricket fraternity is stunned as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s medical report gets leaked online on April 1. According to the medical reports, the ‘glenohumeral joint’ also known as the ‘ball-and-socket’ joint which allows circular movement of the arm has been hurt. That’s the reason why Kohli was holding his arm right arm during the Ranchi Test while fielding in the fourth innings. One can notice that whenever he threw the ball, the movement of his arm was not right as the ball had to be thrown in one quick motion.
Kohli was hoping against hope when he was expecting to play in the decider of Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s decider at Dharamsala which India won eventually. He later revealed that he will be missing the initial matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) season 10. This clearly means that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper would not be playing in IPL 2017, the fans are crushed to hear this news as he scored 4 centuries in the previous season and was the leading run-scorer of the tournament.
Moreover, the medical report raises a big question mark on Kohli’s cricketing career. With ICC Champions Trophy 2017 around the corner, India needs their skipper more than ever.
Kohli would have to look at a bigger picture now, whether to take a break from cricket and get back his fitness. However, Kohli’s fitness has been exemplary in the previous years but the injury he suffered was an impact injury. This is a heart-crushing news we have received today.
Kohli suffered the injury trying to save a boundary on Day One of the historic Ranchi Test. He was in pain instantly holding his arm, not being able to throw the ball back to the wicketkeeper’s end. He got off the ground as Indian physiotherapist came in and took him for treatment.
Kohli was seen on the sidelines like a child who is waiting to go out in the field waiting for his turn to come. He wore an ice pack all along, pacing anxiously in the dressing room.
Kohli has been a major prospect for India over the years and arguably the best batsman in the World Cricket. He recently got Padma Shri Award for a fantastic home season and taking Indian Test team to new heights. Before that he got the Polly Umrigar Award for the third time after Bengaluru Test win.
Will this injury put an end to Kohli’s outstanding carreer? We hope not as Sachin Tendulkar made a comeback after tennis elbow injury, Yuvraj Singh made a comeback after battling from cancer. Kohli has every bit of making a comeback and that’s what his fans would be hoping for him.
Well, Glenn Maxwell will be upset with himself now for mocking Virat Kohli’s injury.
P.S: We love Virat and want him to play for many years to come and take India to glory in ICC Champions Trophy 2017! HAPPY APRIL FOOL’S DAY. YOU FOOL
