Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed several fights on the field since the inaugural season in 2008 and this season was no different. In the heat of the moment, players got into ugly fights. A few had logic behind it, a few were controlled and a few took a rather ugly turn and an action had to be taken. However, the counts of the number of fights have surely decreased in this season as we move towards the IPL 2017 finals and find out who will have glory in this season. But, before we do that, let’s take a look at the top five IPL 2017 fights we have seen so far.
The one with Rohit Sharma abusing the Umpire!
We do not want to give you the exact words he said in the video but you can surely imagine from the lip-syncing that what the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit wants to convey. In early stages of the tournament, MI went up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Rohit was going through a rough patch, but, this time it was not his fault that he got out but the Umpire’s.
Despite the ball hitting his bat first instead of the pads, the Umpire adjudged him out on Sunil Narine’s delivery. Rohit was disappointed straight away and also let the Umpire know his state of mind while leaving the field.
The one with Virat Kohli’s off-field aggression!
This one is from the unforgettable match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and KKR which marked the downfall of Kohli’s side in this season. Kohli came to open in order to chase a lowly score at M Chinnaswamy Stadium but he got out for a golden duck to Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Although Kohli did complain to the Umpire about side screen malfunction. He did not just stop there and lashed out at the match official as well. RCB made a record they do not want to remember that day as they bundled out for the lowest score in the history of IPL, 49.
The one with Yuvraj Singh rescuing Sidharth Kaul from Robin Uthappa!
This incident includes a frustrated Uthappa who was trying to keep up with the required run rate after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) posted a gigantic total, thanks to David Warner’s 126. In the heat of the moment, Uthappa had a few words to say to youngster Kaul as their shoulders met when the batsman was running between the wickets.
Uthappa had a few words for Kaul almost immediately but veteran Yuvraj stepped in and saved the day. At first, he told Uthappa to snap out of it and during the strategic time out had a little chat with his former teammate as well.
The one with Sandeep Sharma, Glenn Maxwell and Umpire Nand Kishore’s no ball call!
This should be rated as the most heated moment of IPL 2017. A miscommunication between Sandeep and the Umpire for not telling from which end he would bowl enabled him to call a no ball. The call made Sandeep upset, though it did not cost him much but the extra ball ended up getting struck with a boundary from Gujarat Lions (GL) batsman Dwayne Smith.
Sandeep after a heated argument with the Umpire snatched his cap from his hands after the completion of the over. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper too stepped in and showed his dissent after Umpire’s call. Though only Sandeep got fined 50 per cent of his match fee.
The one with Virat Kohli feeling perplexed by Umpire’s decision!
Umpiring in IPL 2017 has not been upto international standards as there has been a constant need of Decision Review System (DRS). This time around Kohli was appealing for a caught behind off Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery to Yusuf Pathan. He had nicked the ball to the wicketkeeper Kedar Jadhav but stayed unmoved, the Umpire shook his head in disagreement with the appeal.
