Watch: Here's why Twitterati can't stop tweeting about MS Dhoni during DD vs RPS clash!

MS Dhoni got run out in one of the most bizarre ways as he underestimated Mohammed Shami's fielding skills and got run out in the process, it was one of the rarest of instances in IPL 2017

Mahendra Singh Dhoni entertained the Feroz Shah Kotla crowd at Delhi in Match 52 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 as Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) went up against Delhi Daredevils (DD). Dhoni was in the news during the whole match as he first pulled off a stunner to dismiss a rampant Marlon Samuels who was looking dangerous in the field after hitting back-to-back sixes. He did not just stop there.

Dhoni’s magic bag of tricks was not empty yet, he once again stood up to the task and helped his team get another breakthrough by dismissing Corey Anderson, guiding Washington Sundar to his first wicket. He was lightning fast behind the wickets as he took the bails off in a flash. He responded in a fraction of a second to take his wicket.

It was because of his extraordinary performance behind the stumps that helped RPS restrict DD to a score of 168 at Kotla which seemed to be below par seeing the pitch conditions and the small boundaries.

When RPS lost their 4th wicket in form of Ben Stokes, they needed a finisher and that’s when Dhoni came to bat. The stage was set for one of his little cameos at the end of the innings. But, once again, Dhoni caught the eyes of Twitterati but not for his heroics with the bat.

Dhoni underestimated the ability of Shami on the short fine leg as he glanced the ball towards the area. But, to everyone’s surprise, Shami attacked the ball and hit the bullseye leaving Dhoni perplexed. He did not expect a throw from Dhoni and despite running hard afterward fell short of the crease by an inch.

It was one of the rarest moments in Dhoni’s career when he could not take a quick single and be beaten by the fielder at short fine leg. The impact of the run out was such that it broke few Twitterati’s hearts.
