Jayadev Unadkat from Rising Pune Supergiant is known for his left-arm bowling and not batting or fielding. But to everyone’s surprise stole the limelight for not what he does best. Rising Pune Supergiant are taking on Delhi Daredevils to secure a top-two finish. On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils are looking to stay afloat in the tournament to seal a playoff berth.
Delhi Daredevils won the toss and opted to bat first. They started of woefully but thanks to Karun Nair, they reached some sort of respectability 168. They may have felt they fell 10-15 runs short. But 168 is a tricky score and with the batting order RPS have they would be fancying themselves in the chase. It was Karun Nair who was looking threatening on 65. It was the 19th over at the fag end of the DD innings when the incident happened that we are talking about. DD was 162 looking to press for something around 170-175.
Nair went for a wild hoick off Stokes who bowled it up, a little short. Nair top edged it, the ball went high up in the air and was a skier for sure. Unadkat was positioned at short third man in the 30 yards circle. He had to run across and at least cover 20 metres of ground. The ball was swirling in the night sky, there were moments you felt he will surly drop it, but then he clung on to it and landed safely, without injuring himself or letting the ball pop-out of his hand. It was a screamer of a catch.
