Indian bowler Jaydev Unadkat stole the limelight after he claimed his first, tournament’s third, hat-trick during Match 44 of the Indian Premier League between Rising Pune Supergiant and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 6. Thanks to Jaydev’s superb show with ball, RPS registered 12 runs victory over the SRH.
Jaydev ended with dream figures of 5 for 30. During his quota of four overs, Jaydev picked up wickets of Yuvraj Singh, Naman Ojha, Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneswar Kumar. The left-armer was complimented well by Ben Stokes.
Chasing 148, Hyderabad could only manage to score 136 for the loss of 9 wickets. For SRH, Yuvraj Singh top scored with 47 off 43 balls followed by skipper David Warner 40 off 34 balls. Yuvraj smashed four fours and two sixes during his stay at the middle. Warner struck one six and four fours.
Earlier after winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a disciplined bowling effort to restrict Rising Pune Supergiant to 148/8 in their quota of 20 overs. For RPS, Ben Stokes (39 runs off 25 deliveries) provided the thrust in the middle and a late quickfire cameo from Mahendra Singh Dhoni (31 off 21) lifted Pune to 148/8.
For Hyderabad, Siddharth Kaul was the pick of the bowler picking 4/29. Rashid Khan picked up a wicket too. Rashid ended with figures of 1/18.
With the win, the Steve Smith-led Supergiant vaulted to the second spot in the IPL standings, and almost booked their place for the IPL play-offs while the Sunrisers remained fourth after their second successive loss.
