After finishing as the tournament runner-ups in the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a miserable season this year. Initially, skipper Virat Kohli missed out few games due to his shoulder injury and later, the team lost the plot midway and failed to perform in the tournament. With big players like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Shane Watson in the list of players, the team disappointed its fans in this season.
And finally, after a distressful journey, Skipper Virat Kohli opened up on the social media and promised his fans to bounce back in the next season with much more enthusiasm and zeal. Kohli took to his Instagram account and posted a video in which he said,”I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but I thought it’s best to do after the tournament is over. I just wanted to thank everyone for the good wishes and support regardless of the way our season went. So many people were disappointed and so were the players but it’s a part of sport. I can count on you always for the support. Keep this love going in. God bless you all.”
Out of the 14 scheduled games, RCB managed to win just 3 games nad earned six points in this season while they earned one point in disguise as the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Bangalore was washed off due to rain. Further, the bowling performance of the side was not at all fare in any of the games. Bowlers like Yuzwendra Chahal, Pawan Negi, Srinath Arvind and Tymal Mills couldn’t stop the run flow of the opponents in most of the league games.
