IPL 2018, RCB vs KXIP: Ashish Nehra Holds A Special Record In IPL But These Players Might Break It!

IPL 2018 RCB vs KXIP: Nehra conceded merely 6 runs in his quota of 4 overs, which included a maiden when he played for Delhi Daredevils against KXIP in 2009

IPL 2018 is on and mercury levels have gone through the roof, as expected. Old warhorse Ashish Nehra called it a day, retiring from cricket last year. But his name is still on a precious IPL record. Very few will know that Nehra bowled the most economical spell in the history of IPL. Representing Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2009, Nehra bowled a splendid spell against Kings XI Punjab. He conceded a mere 6 runs in his quota of 4 overs, which included a maiden. Surreal, isn’t it?

But will some other bowler displace Nehra to take this record? Check out a few bowlers who can dislodge Nehra’s record in IPL 11.

Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin, who has been a champion bowler for India and Chennai Super Kings, has not been regular at playing cricket of late. But as they say, ‘form is temporary and class is permanent’. Ashwin is the second-most economical bowler in IPL history at 6.55, picking up 100 wickets. According to the grapevine, Ashwin has added leg-spin to his repertoire, which he promises to use this IPL. He will be the captain of Kings XI Punjab and we expect him to lead from the front. He certainly is in the pipeline to break Nehra’s record.

Sunil Narine
He is an asset to any team he plays for and has been instrumental in helping KKR lift the crown twice. With extensive tricks he has up his sleeve, he will always be a man of danger. When KKR was crowned in 2012, Narine picked 24 wickets at an economy of 5.47. When KKR won the title for the second time in 2014, he picked 21 wickets at an economy rate of 6.35, which is great. In IPL 2015 and IPL 2016, he still managed to keep himself as the most economical bowler in IPL history with an economy rate of 6.17 and picked up 85 wickets. He is very much in line to overtake Nehra.

Rashid Khan
He is young and has entered the spotlight at a very young age. He was recently the No 1 T20I bowler in the world and has become a crorepati at IPL 11. This will be his debut at the IPL and a lot is expected from the Afghan youngster.

Ashish Nehra is currently a bowling coach RCB franchise in this year’s IPL.
