Rohit Sharma’s 56* helped Mumbai Indians beat table-toppers Chennai Super Kings by a handsome 8 wickets margin. It was a captain’s knock to the tee!
With the backs to the wall, defending champions MI was at the last position in the points table before this match. CSK, of course, was dominant at the numero uno spot. It was a must-win game of sorts for the defending champions, but Rohit Sharma and his men showed why exactly 2015 was not a fluke. In 2015, the MI was in a similar spot requiring to win all of their last 6 games. They did it, they qualified and they won. So, over the years one thing that IPL has taught us is to never write off Mumbai Indians. On Saturday, they were chasing 170 on a batting friendly pitch with batsmen low-on-confidence. But Rohit Sharma stood up and got counted when it mattered most.
