Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 is coming to an end today with a face-off between two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai later in the day.
MS Dhoni-led CSK and Kane Williamson-led side SRH will come up against each other for the fourth time this season and Super Kings hold a 3-0 record over their southern counterpart.
This would be Super Kings’ seventh appearance in an IPL final, while Sunrisers will be playing in their second final.
CSK have lifted the IPL trophy twice in 2010 and 2011 while SRH were the champions in 2016.
No doubt, this year’s IPL was more entertaining than other previous editions as seven of the eight teams were in contention for the playoffs spot before the last league matches. Many records were broken, many were made in this edition.
Before the final clash, let’s look at some of the interesting stats of this year’s IPL.
853 — Sixes were hit so far in IPL 2018. Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) Rishabh Pant is leading the list of most number of sixes with 37. Chennai’s Ambati Rayudu is at number 2 with 33. Rayudu has a chance to surpass Pant in the finals against SRH.
111-metre six — Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) AB de Villiers smashed the biggest six of IPL 2018 by sending CSK leg-spinner Imran Tahir’s delivery over a distance of 111 m.
19,542 runs – Have been made so far in this T20 season. SRH’s skipper Kane Williamson is the leading run-scorer with 688.
11,610 – Runs have been scored through boundaries so far.
712 – Wickets have been taken so far with Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) Andrew Tye leading the list with 24 wickets. SRH’s lead spinner Rashid Khan is at number 2 with 21. He can surpass Tye and grab the Purple cap in the finals today.
4,679 – Dot balls have been bowled so far. SRH’s Rashid Khan is leading the least of most number of dot balls bowled this season with 158.
101 — Fifties have been scored in IPL 2018 season. SRH’s skipper Kane Williamson is leading the list with eight 50s in 16 matches he played so far.
128 — Is the highest score by an individual this season. DD’s Rishab Pant had smashed unbeaten 128 against SRH on May 10.
5/14 – Is the best bowling figures by any bowler in IPL 2018 . KXIP’s Ankit Rajpoot achieved this feat against SRH on April 26.
Meanwhile, the finals between CSK and SRH will start at 7 PM after the closing ceremony which will feature various Bollywood celebrities.
