Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) chances of making it into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 playoffs are slim but possible. RCB skipper Virat Kohli has been in good form in the tournament but not in his prime. While every catch, wicket, exquisite shot or controversy, including Kohli does not go unreported, a major thing he said against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was not noticed by many.
During Match 29 of IPL 2018 against KKR, Kohli allegedly said to the umpire that unorthodox spin bowler Sunil Narine is a chucker. According to Pakistani journalist Nabeel Hashmi, Kohli said “Batta maar raha hai” to the umpire Anil Choudhary after the completion of his over.
Kohli was visibly disappointed as he could not get enough boundaries off Narine’s over. According to Pune Mirror, he even gestured the umpires Nigel Llong and Anil Choudhary about the ‘illegality’ of Narine’s action, which a player is not supposed to do according to the rules.
Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release a statement on the breach of conduct from RCB skipper. The umpires and match referee Mannu Nayyar disagreed with Kohli’s actions as they did not feel that Narine’s action was illegal.

“These things happen on the field but I am not supposed to speak on the matter to the media. You should contact the BCCI,”
Narine’s action was recently reported during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018. However, he started playing in KKR’s first match this season. His action has been flagged several times in the past four years but the Caribbean bowler has always made a comeback after a few tweaks.
