RCB finished at the bottom of the table in the previous season after a dismal show in the tournament. They were able to win just 3 matches out of 14. They did not have the best start with Kohli out of the side due to shoulder energy for the first few games.

They will be playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first match of the season on April 8. KKR were able to get the better of RCB in both the matches, including the humiliating loss they suffered wherein they were bundled out for 49 while chasing a modest total of 132.

However, in the IPL 2018 auctions, RCB managed to rope in all those KKR bowlers who had bowled them out last year, including Umesh Yadav, Chris Woakes, Colin de Grandhomme and Nathan Coulter-Nile. However, Coulter-Nile will miss out on this season due to injury. He has been replaced by Kiwi all-rounder Corey Anderson.
