IPL 2018: Virat Kohli Joins RCB After Break & Practices His Favourite Shots In The Nets

In low-slow Indian pitches, the sweep shot is an asset you need to have in your repertoire

The Indian captain has hit the ground after a month-long break. Virat Kohli has finally joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp just ahead of the Indian Premier League. He was taking a break during the Nidahas Trophy and hence was missing all the cricketing action. Kohli is back at the Challengers camp and during the practice and looked as if he had never stepped away from the field.

Kohli was in an astounding form throughout 2017 and also showed a good form during India’s series against South Africa, wherein he hit a century in Tests followed by another three during the limited-overs series.

Virat was seen putting in the hard yards during his first training session as the captain of RCB. He ran a few laps of the ground just to get warmed up and then took up the pads as he hit the nets. In the nets, he seemed to be bent on improving his aerial play and hence we saw him go air-borne on a number of occasions, apart from practising his trademark cover drives. Virat also focused on his slog sweeps — a shot that does not come naturally to him but nonetheless, he is trying to master it ahead of the IPL. In low-slow Indian pitches, the sweep shot is an asset you need to have in your repertoire.

IPL 2018 is set to begin on April 7 when Chennai Super Kings take on Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener. RCB will travel east to take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 8.
