Is This David De Gea's Best Save Ever?

David de Gea's contender for 'save of the year'

David de Gea has not been in the best of the forms this year. It was a forgettable World Cup campaign for him, Spain was knocked out by Russia in round of 16. However, when he is playing for his club Manchester United, he is a different man. De Gea made an astonishing save against Young Boys in a nerve-wracking game at Old Trafford on November 27.

It was Marouane Fellaini’s goal in the stoppage time that gave Manchester United a win, but De Gea’s save ensured that Young Boys don’t take the lead in the 70th minute.

De Gea stopped the ball from the goal line. It was a deflected shot which almost crossed the goal line. The ball may not have had much pace but the goalkeeper made a significant ground diving to his right despite being left-footed.

Manager Jose Mourinho was, clearly, in awe of that save. “Without David’s save, no winning goal either.”

“He is a world-class goalkeeper, probably the best in the world, and that’s exactly what you need if you want to be a big club that wins things. I know he is happy here, I know he wants to stay, and I know the board are working to make that happen,” he added.

Twitterati hailed him as the best goalkeeper in the world after a miraculous save:

Agreed
