15-year-old Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff just created history by defeating tennis legend Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4 in her life’s first Wimbledon (senior) match. As the youngest player to qualify for the main draw in the professional era, Gauff beat her idol Venus Williams, a five-time Wimbledon Singles champion, in their first round clash at the All England Club.
Gauff was born in Georgia on March 13, 2004. Her father is a college basketball star while her mother is a track & field athlete. In 2017, she became the youngest player to reach a US Open junior final. At the French Open in 2018, she became the youngest female to win a Grand Slam qualifying match.
