We are lucky to be living an era same as Lionel Messi. At the La Liga fixture between Real Betis and Barcelona yesterday, Messi added another hat-trick to his illustrious career.
The Barcelona forward did not just score three points for his team but won over the Real Betis’ fans as well. Whereas Luis Suarez struggled to find the back of the net on several occasions, Messi created opportunities out of nowhere. His first goal came off a free kick 20 yards out.
The second goal he scored was with the help of Suarez. However, his hat-trick goal was a work of art. The first-time chip left everyone stunned including Real Betis goalkeeper Paul Lopez. The crowd applauded the 31-year-old followed by a standing ovation at the Estadio Benito Villamarín stadium.

The maverick was surprised by the applause he got, he said,
“I don’t remember being applauded by rival fans for a goal before. I am very grateful for the response of the supporters,”
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde applauded the rivals fans’ gesture,
It’s significant that they gave him this ovation, it’s an acknowledgement. Our rivals’ supporters have to suffer him but they also appreciate him, because of the player he is.
Betis’ coach Quique Stein was in awe of Messi’s performance and happy for the maturity displayed by the fans,
“I really like the fact that our supporters showed their appreciation for a great player, today he really made us suffer. It’s only fair and it’s right to recognise this, our fans behaved in an extraordinary way and I’m very proud of them. I’ve seen some magnificent players do great things but no-one can match the things Messi has done over the last 12 years.”
