After making India proud, Mithali Raj, the captain of the women’s team is not somebody who will take rubbish lying down. Mithali Raj recently led the Indian women cricket team to the finals of the Women’s World Cup, only to lose to hosts England in a nail biting encounter. But, once the Indian eves returned home, they were showered with accolades in form of money, land and even cars. Mithali Raj is at the peak of her career. During the world cup, she surpassed Charlotte Edwards of England to become the highest run scorer in women’s cricket.
But recently what happened to her was something Abhinav Mukund too had faced recently. Mithali Raj had uploaded a picture on her Twitter handle, alongside Veda Krishnamurthy and other cricketers and captioned the picture as, “What a momentous day today was, standing with these special women!!”
Her post received a lot of flak. Some even went on to post denigratory comments like pointing a finger at the sweat patches in her outfit. A Twitterati insensitively said, “sorry Smt Captain, hahaha odd looking. the fasina wet.”
This came out as insensitively rude keeping in mind the glory she brought to the nation and the judgements people make about women based on the basis of their attire.
Mithali Raj’s initial tweet:

This is what the Twitterati responded:
sorry Smt Captain, hahaha odd looking. the fasina wet

This apparently did not go down well with the Indian skipper, who responded with equal force:
I m where I m because I sweated it out on d field! I see no reason 2 b ashamed f it, when I’m on d ground inaugerating a cricket academy. https://t.co/lC5BOMf7o2

This is an example that she has set apart from giving strength and inspiring women all across the country.
