Youngster Sundeep Jora may have not been able to guide his team to a victory against UAE in first T20I yesterday, but he ended up entering the record books. Jora became the youngest batsman to score a fifty in T20I aged 17 years and 103 days. The debutant played an unbeaten knock of 53 runs off 46 balls including 3 fours and 1 six.
He is only the third Nepalese batsman to score a half century in T20I cricket. Unfortunately, he ended up being on the losing side. Nepal could not chase down a target of 154 runs and kept losing wickets at regular intervals resulting in a loss by 21 runs.
The previous record was held by Canada’s Hiral Patel who was 18 years and 177 days old when he scored a T20I fifty.
Nepal’s Sundeep Jora has become the youngest man to score a T20I fifty at the age of 17 years, 103 days with 53* on debut, but it wasn’t enough to stop UAE claiming a 21-run victory in the 1st T20I in Dubai.#UAEvNEP scorecard https://t.co/kds3bCLVqu pic.twitter.com/nekXry6lCF

It hasn’t been an year since Nepal got their ODI status but their players are breaking a few records already. Recently, youngster Rohit Paudel became the youngest batsman to hit an ODI century breaking cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Paudel scored 55 off 58 deliveries and ended up on the winning side as Nepal beat UAE by 145 runs.
Relatively new to international cricket, Nepal are making an impact straightaway. After Afghanistan, Nepal will look to be another Asian team improving drastically in international cricket.
