When we talk about Gautam Gambhir and Indian Test captain Virat Kohli, only one picture comes to mind. Virat Kohli walking angrily towards fielder Gautam Gambhir. Both the stars had to be separated. The incident occurred in 2013 in IPL, but it is still fresh in public memory.
Questions are being raised about their equation on and off field. But, now things seems to have cooled down between the two players. Infact, Gambhir finds similarities between them.
Gambhir today said both him and Virat Kohli were professional cricketers. He said both were aggressive and passionate individuals and want to do well in their careers.
“Even if we have difference of opinion there is nothing wrong in it. We both have same ambition that is to make our country proud and try to win each and every game as possible and try to contribute in the team’s success. There is nothing personal about it.
“This is what professional people do. We are pretty good friends on and off the field,” he told NDTV.
This pretty much clears anybody’s doubt as to whether Kohli and Gambhir are still on the war path.
Gautam Gambhir even played a Test match under Kohli’s captainship and did well. In the Indore Test against New Zealand, Gambhir scored 26 and 50 runs in both the innings respectively. India won the match by 321 runs. The series also went in favour of India with 0-3 score. Gambhir had made his comeback after two years. Upon his selection, he had said that being part of the winning dressing room was something he played cricket for.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir also expressed his views about India and Pakistan. The cricketer said no cricket should be played between the arch rivals until Pakistan ends cross-border terrorism. He said until this, India shouldn’t keep any ties with Pakistan.
