Indian Women Ice hockey team has registered its first ever international victory and that too in its first ever game. This is a proud moment that will go down in India’s rich sporting folklore. The women showed strength and valor to pull off a win against Philipines at the Challenge Cup of Asia fixture held in Bangkok. The match was played yesterday. It was a well fought out match in which the women from India won.

Indian women got momentum and belief after registering its first goal in the second period and ended with the team having a 1-0 advantage.

The last quarter was well fought by women of both teams, not giving an inch away. In fact, 3 goals were scored in the quarter by both teams. It is a match that went down to the wire. India emerged victorious 4-3.

It was a relief to see some delight in an unknown, no-so popular sport to win hearts of citizens in a country that goes gaga over cricket.

The women had to rely on more than 3K donors, who contributed in a crowdfunding platform for training, accommodation, airfares, visa, team jersey, and equipment. In the above video, meet ace womens hockey player who explains the sport in a better manner.
