Runner Battles Bloody Nose, Goes On To Win Gold In Women’s Marathon – WATCH

Mazuronak won the gold medal by beating French runner Clemence Calvin by just six seconds

Volha Mazuronak was crowned the woman’s marathon champion at the European Championships in Berlin after winning gold.

Just after 30 minutes into the marathon, Mazuronak suffered a nosebleed and soon her face was covered in blood. Despite the nosebleed, Mazuronak continued to race.

The 29-year-old runner from Belarus took a break to clean her face with a sponge at a water station and then completed the race without further nasal issues.

Her grit and determination caught Tweeps’ attention who couldn’t stop lauding the athlete’s unbending dedication.

After nosebleeds and being sent the wrong way, Gold for Volha Mazuronak in the women’s marathon is the very best result.

ICYMI – Here is that bloody nose that Volha Mazuronak suffered during the first 10 km of this morning’s #EC2018 marathon. Nonetheless, she won in 2:26:22.

A bloody nose was not the only mishap the runner faced. Mazuronak almost took a wrong turn just a few hundred meters before the touchline.

However, Mazuronak realised her mistake early and managed to complete the race in 2:26:22. She won the gold medal by beating French runner Clemence Calvin by just six seconds who was later awarded silver metal.

The Czech athlete Eva Vrabcova Nyvltova took bronze.

This was the Mazuronak’s first international win.
