After losing to Malaysia in the in the quarter-finals of the Hockey World League (HWL) Semi-Finals by 3-2, the Indian Hockey team made a superb comeback in their next game and once again defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan by 6-1. India put up a quality display to thrash arch-rivals Pakistan 6-1 in a fifth-eighth classification match of the Hockey World League Semi-Final here on Saturday.
The Indian men looked pretty confident right from the beginning of the game. They made their chances to score a goal right after the 5th minute of the game but somehow, they missed some initial hits. In the 9th minute, Ramandeep Singh gave the first breakthrough to the Indian team after scoring the first goal of the game. He had the space to slam the ball past the Pakistan keeper from close range.
The next three goals came too quick one-after-another while Pakistan still looking for their first success. The second goal came off Talwinder’s stick whose majestic touch turned the pass by Pardeep Mor into a fantastic goal. By the Team India were 2 goals ahead of Pakistan
By the end of the first half, the Indians were fortunate enough to score two more goals. Thanks to Akashdeep Singh and Ramandeep Singh’s efforts each time due to which the goal number 3 and 4 were scored just before the half-time.
By then India were leading by 4-0 while Pakistan still looking to open the account of their goals.

The second half commenced and a few minutes later, Harmanpreet struck again and hit the 5th goal for India while his personal count was 3. The Indian squad looked totally in joy while the Pakistani players were down a bit but not hopeless.

Pakistan finally got their first goal ahead of the completion of the 3rd quarter when Ajaz Ahmed pulled one for his team. After a long time, the Pakistani players got a reason to celebrate however, the game was not in their hold anyway.
In the last quarter, India continued to attack while Pakistan were still in search of another success in this game. India’s efforts paid off once again when the sixth goal came off with 2 minutes left in the completion of the game.
Earlier, Harmanpreet Singh and C0. lost 2-3 to Malaysia and thus lost their spot to fight in the semi-final matches. Both teams played an attacking style and there were several chances at either end. The Indians paid the penalty of some poor defending along with several instances of poor finishing by the forwards.
